That’s a good question. We talk about it in class from time to time. Jeremy Pepper just wrote an interesting post on this very topic – Reputation – Both Corporate and Personal – at Pop PR!
That’s also a tough question. Only three? I’m going for three of each. 🙂 I’ve seen some of the other answers, so I’ll try to hit some areas maybe not covered there, yet key beginner first steps to online reputation management. You may post your comments here, but really … the best thing (I believe) would be to post in your blog and ping Christi of my PRception.
For some time my Mom has been sending me emails from her friend Charlotte and many others. They like email.
Today, however, a break-through took place.
Mom sent me her first viral video. And viral it is with almost two million views on Google Video (Netherlands) alone.
Here’s the email pitch and the video. It is quite good, too.
Did you hear about the horses that were trapped for 3 days on a tiny piece of land in wind and rain in the Netherlands last month (November, actually)? It had the nation mesmerized, watching about 100 horses huddle against the wind and watching 18 of them die. First firemen , then the Dutch army tried to rescue them, both unsuccessfully.
Four women on horseback rode out to the rescue. Here’s a video of it…..

…think viral, think Rube Goldberg, and remember Honda Cog and other fun videos…
Be sure and watch the video of Experiment #214.
It is a fun campaign and, as B. L. points out, this ones seems to have Coke’s full heart behind it.
Now, I don’t intend to imply that this company endorsed group of videos, and their call for consumer generated videos, will equal the Honda Cog ad campaign. But, Experiment #214 is along that line.
This will be fun to sit back and watch. Can this one take off, or has the Mentos/Diet Coke meme already played out? And, will anyone get hurt along the way? Hope not.
