Pope Benedict XVI now has ‘many’ websites

Well, it didn’t take long for the new Pope to get his domains wrapped up – by others. Twelve domains have been scooped up so far with the name “popebenedictxvi” and I’m sure more will be created soon.

The dot-com site was taken by:

Domain popebenedictxvi.com:
Total Interest Ltd.
SS – 6348 Sub Z8933
Nassau, na na BS

Total Interest has been accused of ‘cybersquating’ in U.S. District Court.

I guess it is true. Nothing is sacred anymore.

UPDATE: Note that the domain was registered on February 1st, 2005. So, for some the deathwatch of Pope John Paul II started much sooner than it did for the rest of us. Kinda very sad when you think about it. Some people seem to have gone through the list of past pope’s and added one digit to the names – then scooped up the domains.

Rogers Cadenhead had this post yesterday. Thanks to Jeremy Pepper for the tip.

Hey Robert! How have you been? Good, I hope. I like the new look of the blog. I read it often, so all of that time spent blogging in class was worthwhile 🙂 I saw an article and I thought you might like to read/blog about it, if you haven’t already. You could also tell one of your classes that a former student of yours is still SOOO interested in blogs that she can’t help but read everything she sees about them. Anyway, I hope all is well and the link is below. Talk to you soon!

    P.S. I set up a g-mail account and I love it!

    Hey Kelly,

How great to hear from you! Thanks for writing. I’m fine, thanks. And, how are you? Please write to me from your Gmail account to mine so I can catch up on what you’re doing.

Thanks about the new blog look. Mostly, it is because it is easier to read. 😀 And, I haven’t’ gotten with Lisa, yet, to do a new theme. Maybe we’ll do that again in the Fall.

I’m glad you’re still interested in blogs and reading them. Doin’ the Snoopy dance here! 🙂

That Disney story is funny. Jim Hill seems to think that it is open season on making money from the Mouse. I’ll share it with the students, too.

Take care of yourself and please keep in touch. All the best.

    Robert
